Monday, May 14 Once again, it seems we have gone from winter straight into summer. This past Thursday I finally planted my vegetables in the community garden of which I am in charge. It is rather embarrassing because I am the last person to get their bed planted. In fact, as I was finishing with my planting I had a gardener comment to me, “Better late than never”. I thought about sneaking back to the garden in the middle of the night and chopping off a few of his tomato plants but I didn’t, I didn’t.
On Mother’s Day Fanfare played at Defiance Ridge Vineyards and they have an Artisan’s Market there on Sundays. There was a man selling mushroom growing kits and I bought one. I can’t wait to get it going. Over the next two years I should harvest 5 to 6 pounds of shitake mushrooms. I’m sure many of you are saying, “Oh sure, right! You are nuts.” I will let you know how it goes.
The remainder of May is fairly busy for Fanfare but most of the gigs are private events. That being said, Fanfare is at Chevys Fresh Mex on Olive at I-170 on Thursday, May 17 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Weather permitting, we will be on their new patio. On Sunday, May 27 we will be at Balducci’s Vineyards from 1:30 to 5:30 PM.
